O,R&L awarded LEED Certification for Hartford HealthCare Family Health Center

South Windsor, CT - The Hartford HealthCare Family Health Center achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification. LEED is a rating system for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of sustainable buildings. This certification was awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council for the Medical Office Building’s sustainable design and construction practices. The 16,000 square foot multi-tenant medical office building’s design team consisted of O,R&L Construction (Design Builder), MBH Architecture (Architect), BVH Integrated Services (Mechanical Engineer), Michael Horton Associates (Structural Engineer) and LRC Group (Civil Engineer).
This new medical office building was designed, constructed and will be maintained sustainably. Through strict specifications and documentation this building respects the site and the community, reduces energy and water use, incorporates certified, regional and recycled materials and maintains healthy indoor air quality.
The Hartford HealthCare Family Health Center provides primary and urgent care to all ages, seven days a week. This is the first environmentally friendly building for Hartford Hospital, which will set the standard for future buildings. The building is also one of the first LEED Certified medical centers in the state of Connecticut.
