UCFS Groundbreaking Ceremony

Norwich, CT - O,R&L Construction participated as Construction Manager at the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion and renovations at The Edward & Mary Lord Family Health Center/ United Community and Family Services at 47 Town Street in Norwich, CT on August 14th. The groundbreaking ceremony consisted of a presentation on the community outreach that UCFS participates in and a ceremonial breaking of a wall in the adjoining retail space to be expanded into. Edward and Mary Lord and mayor of Norwich Peter Nystrom were honored at the ceremony with the role of helping to break the wall. O,R&L is renovating 25,000 sq. ft of existing space and a 6,500 sq. ft 2 story addition. This will allow for new waiting rooms, exam rooms, new offices and a new entrance increasing healthcare access by 47%.
Guest speakers were UCFS CEO Chuck Seeman; Pamela Kinder, Vice President of Marketing and Facilities for UCFS; Janette Edwards, manager of community benefits at the William W. Backus Hospital and Evelyn Barnum, CEO of the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut. Deb Kievits of Norwich was honored as one of the Health Center Superheroes by the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut.
UCFS is a non-profit Community Health Center offering services to the insured, underinsured and uninsured.
