Backus Emergency Care Center

Plainfield, CT - O,R&L Construction is proud to announce the completion of the Plainfield's Backus Emergency Care Center. A ribbon-cutting event with a tour of the facility was held on Tuesday, June 26. In attendance were Plainfield’s First Selectman Paul Sweet; David Whitehead, President & CEO of Backus Hospital; Dr. Robert Sidman, Chief of Emergency Services for Backus Hospital; Robert Duval, Deputy Fire Chief and members of the community.

This 13,000 SF Design Build development project included pre-construction services consisting of site development, state & local zoning approvals and building design for both shell and interior fit-out. Besides the state, town and hospital requirements, this building also received CON approval and passed DPH inspection/review. The center contains 12 treatment rooms, convenient care for non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services.

The sustainable characteristics of this building include: construction waste management, IAQ management-which included air filters during and after construction; low VOC materials were utilized and a green seal cleaning process for the final cleaning. As the project developed, there was no increased stormwater runoff into the DOT system.
