Topping-Off Held at the Construction Site of Ulbrich's New Storage Facility in Wallingford

April 20, 2012

Wallingford, CT - With construction underway on the new Ulbrich storage facility for Ulbrich Stainless Steels and Special Metals, Inc., a topping off event was held today. The topping off celebration (or topping out) usually marks the moment the highest structural beam is swung into place and welded into position. Today’s event included the signing of a beam and a symbolic tree that was placed at the top of the structure and is used to commemorate the event. Dignitaries in attendance were The U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon, Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson, Jr., and three generations of the Ulbrich family - Fred, Chris and Jonathan.

Constructed by O,R&L Construction Corp. this 17,000 SF design build project will be a  pre-engineered manufacturing storage building that was developed in response to the structural collapse of the existing building. The new building will consist of a metal pre-engineered frame, insulated metal panels, standing seam metal roof with loading docks and overhead door access. The sustainable initiatives on this project include construction waste management, concrete recycling, reuse of existing site pad, and the facility will be built on a remediated brownfield site.
